R&D and innovation.

From laboratory to market. We support the maturation, commercialisation and scale-up of technological and non-technological developments with the same artisan precision.

The bridge between idea and market.

Valuable ideas die between the laboratory and the market every day. Not for lack of technical merit, but for lack of strategy, support and a realistic plan that connects what has been researched with what the market actually needs. That is where we come in.

At Digital Archer we work with organisations, research groups, technology startups and R&D departments to turn promising developments into products, services and solutions that work in the real world. We are not a laboratory — we are the bridge between knowledge and its practical application.

Technology maturation and TRL.

The TRL (Technology Readiness Level) scale is the international benchmark for measuring how mature a technology is. The European Commission, CDTI and leading funding agencies use it as a fundamental criterion for evaluating R&D projects.

We run a thorough TRL assessment for each development, identifying the gaps between its current state and the level needed to access the market or funding. From there, we design a roadmap with clear milestones, estimated resources and realistic timelines.

  • TRL 1–3: basic research and proof of concept — we validate scientific and technical feasibility
  • TRL 4–6: validation in a relevant environment — we design prototypes and pilots
  • TRL 7–9: demonstration and commercialisation — we support the market launch

Technology transfer.

We collaborate with universities, public research organisations (PROs) and technology centres to facilitate the transfer of research results to the business fabric. This involves not only finding the right industrial partner, but also structuring the agreement, protecting intellectual property and designing the exploitation model.

We have worked on transfer projects ranging from patent valorisation to the creation of academic spin-offs, always with a pragmatic approach: innovation that does not reach the market generates no impact.

Innovating is not just inventing. It is bringing the invention to the market, to the user, to the real problem. Our work starts where the paper ends and finishes where the product meets its customer.

Commercialisation and scale-up.

The step from validated prototype to marketable product is often the hardest. It requires understanding the market, defining a clear value proposition, identifying the right channels and designing a sustainable business model.

We support this process from start to finish: market analysis, positioning, pricing, go-to-market strategy and scale-up plan. We do not replace the technical team — we complement it with the strategic and commercial layer it needs to reach the market with confidence.

Industrial and intellectual property.

Protecting intangible assets is a fundamental pillar of any R&D+i strategy. We advise on the definition of industrial property strategy (patents, utility models, designs) and intellectual property (copyright, trade secrets), always in coordination with patent agents when appropriate.

It is not about patenting everything, but about protecting what has strategic value and doing it at the right time — before publishing, before sharing, before negotiating.

Non-technological innovation.

Not all innovation lives in a laboratory. We also work with organisations looking to innovate in their business models, processes, service delivery or team structures. Organisational innovation, social innovation and service innovation are just as strategic as the technological kind — and often more accessible for SMEs and public administrations.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about R&D+i.

Yes. We regularly collaborate with universities, public research organisations (PROs), technology centres and research groups to facilitate the transfer of results to the market. We act as a bridge between the research ecosystem and the business fabric, helping to valorise patents, create spin-offs and structure licensing agreements.
TRL (Technology Readiness Level) is the standard scale used by the European Commission and NASA to measure the maturity of a technology, from 1 (basic research) to 9 (market-validated product). It is a key criterion for accessing most European and national R&D funding, and for planning the roadmap of any technological development.
Absolutely. We identify the calls best suited to the project's maturity level — Horizon Europe, CDTI, regional funds, R&D tax incentives — and support the entire process: writing the technical and financial reports, submission and follow-up through to final justification. We combine our R&D service with our fund capture and reporting service.
We work with both. Non-technological innovation — new business models, process innovation, service innovation or organisational innovation — is equally strategic and often more accessible for SMEs and public administrations. Our approach always starts from the problem and the market, not from the technology itself.
