The full funding cycle.
Many organisations treat grant capture as a one-off administrative exercise: fill in the forms and hope for the best. The reality is that a well-executed funding strategy is a continuous process that demands strategic vision, technical writing capability and meticulous follow-through at every stage.
At Digital Archer we accompany the full cycle, from the initial scanning of opportunities to the final justification of every euro invested. We don't just draft an application: we design the funding strategy that best fits your organisation's goals, capacity and timeline.
Identification and scanning
We continuously monitor open and upcoming calls at regional, national and European level. For each organisation we build a personalised funding map, cross-referencing available programmes with your projects, capabilities and calendar. This lets us anticipate calls months ahead and prepare proposals with enough time to make them genuinely competitive.
Eligibility assessment
Before investing effort in a submission, we analyse each call's requirements in depth: eligibility criteria, thematic priorities, aid intensity, compatibility with other funding streams and deadlines. We only proceed with calls where the organisation has a real chance of success.
Proposal writing
We prepare the full technical proposal and financial plan, tailored to the language and evaluation criteria of each call. This includes defining objectives, work packages, timeline, impact indicators, detailed budget and, where appropriate, consortium structure and task distribution among partners.
Submission and follow-up
We manage the electronic submission of the application and all supporting documentation. During the evaluation phase, we handle requests for clarification, amendments and additional information from the granting body.
Post-award justification
Once the grant is awarded, the work is far from over. We handle the technical and financial justification of the project: evidence gathering, progress reports, monitoring briefs, cost statements and preparation for external audits. This phase is critical to avoiding clawbacks and ensuring the organisation meets every obligation arising from the grant.
Our approval rate exceeds 90%. The key is not submitting more applications, but selecting the right calls and preparing solid proposals aligned with the funder's real priorities.
Funding programmes.
We work across the full spectrum of public funding available to organisations in Spain and the European Union:
European funds
- Next Generation EU / PRTR — Funds from Spain's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan: digitalisation, sustainability, territorial cohesion and productive innovation.
- FEDER — European Regional Development Fund: investment in innovation, business competitiveness and infrastructure.
- ESF+ — European Social Fund Plus: employment, training, social inclusion and digital skills.
- Horizon Europe — The EU's largest research and innovation programme: collaborative projects, ERC grants, innovation actions and accelerators.
- Interreg / ETC — European Territorial Cooperation: cross-border and transnational projects.
National funds (Spain)
- CDTI — Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology: business R&D projects, Neotec, science and innovation missions.
- ENISA — National Innovation Company: participatory loans for entrepreneurs and innovative SMEs.
- ICO — Official Credit Institute lines for investment and liquidity.
- Ministerial calls — Sectoral programmes from the Ministries of Industry, Science, Ecological Transition, Digital Transformation and others.
Regional funds (Canary Islands)
- Canary Islands Government — Grants for innovation, digitalisation, internationalisation and local entrepreneurship.
- PROEXCA — Canary Islands Economic Development Agency: support for internationalisation and business competitiveness.
- Island Councils (Cabildos) — Island-level programmes supporting SMEs, startups and the local economy.
Canary Islands fiscal advantages.
The Canary Islands operate under the REF (Economic and Fiscal Regime), a framework unique within the European Union that offers real tax savings for businesses and investors. Within this umbrella, several instruments stand out:
- ZEC (Canary Islands Special Zone) — A reduced corporate tax rate of 4% for companies meeting certain employment and investment requirements in the islands. We help businesses set up within the ZEC and meet their ongoing commitments.
- RIC (Reserve for Investment in the Canary Islands) — Allows deduction of up to 90% of undistributed profit allocated to eligible investments in the archipelago. A powerful instrument for financing expansion and innovation at a significantly lower tax cost.
- R&D&I tax incentives — Tax deductions for research, development and technological innovation activities, with especially favourable rates in the Canary Islands. We support organisations through the execution and application of these incentives.
And there is more: production bonuses for physical goods, IGIC exemptions and investment deductions, among others. Every company has its own optimal combination.
Combining public grants with Canary Islands tax incentives allows many organisations to fund over 70% of their innovation, digitalisation or internationalisation projects. We design the optimal strategy to get the most out of every euro invested.
Justification and audit preparation.
Justification is the phase most organisations underestimate — and the one that causes the most problems. A documentation error, an ineligible expense or a missed deadline can result in partial or full repayment of the grant.
Our justification service includes:
- Day-one planning — We design the monitoring and filing system before project execution begins, not after.
- Expenditure eligibility control — We verify that every budget line complies with the call's requirements before the expense is committed.
- Progress reports — We prepare the interim and final technical reports required by the granting body.
- Cost statement — We compile the full cost statement with all supporting documentation for the expenditure.
- Audit preparation — We organise the documentation and support the organisation through external verifications and audits.
